Mental Juicing Madness (and a recipe!)

Image
Over the past few weeks, wednesday has become juicing day. Surprisingly, I'm still not a huge fan of juicing... it does something weird to my digestion. However, if I had to pick the most positive thing I always get out of juicing, it's always the fun mental trip it takes me on. I can't speak to what will happen this Wednesday yet, but last week, I think I might have experienced minor juicing dementia. As I was walking to the gym after time at the dance studio, I started to physically crash. I had no energy. Half of me was ready to call it quits, go to bed, or just fall asleep on the sidewalk until Thursday. I was so lethargic, I just wanted to go home. The other half of me was a crazy hungry monkey who just needed to have a salad . Now, I cannot express how crazy this monkey was. I think it could have been willing to hurt a small child for this salad. The whole way to the gym, it kept repeating, "I want a salad. Just have a salad. It's just a salad. What's ...

Pomp, Circumstance, Irish Moss and Changing Pace

Where was I yesterday? I was getting ready: For the crowning moment of the past two years of my life: The day didn't happen without its share of toil and trouble: it all began with my big family grad dinner getting postponed because my mom and my grandmother are actually really sick. However, my mom is an amazing trooper and managed to make it out to my graduation ceremony despite not feeling well. After not being sure whether my mom would make it or not, I got off the phone just to get an email saying that my diploma was damaged by the printer and they didn't notice until the day of, meaning... no diploma for me. Really?! Who does that actually happen to? Me apparently, but better me that someone with worse coping mechanisms! And they're supposedly sending it to me by mail anyway. However, my amazing sister and her boyfriend saved the day. After the ceremony that both my parents and Andrew made it to, the two of them took us to dinner and to see Iron Man 2. Because my sis ...

Still workin' my way through Living on Live Foods

My update for the day is my latest attempt at a couple more recipes from Alissa Cohen's Living On Live Foods . Because I've been craving savory more than sweet recently, I realized that I never actually made any of her desserts yet! That changed today when I tried her Hamentaschen recipe, or as she called them Jewish Pop-Tarts. I also had extra 'Pop-tart crust' leftover so made some with other flavors, including raspberry (just mush them) and some with blueberries and cinnamon. I meant to actually shape them into real Pop-Tart rectangles, but the triangles looked so cute I just made them all that way! These aren't life changing, but they are tasty. They taste very... wholesome? And I like that every once in a while. I also love anything with prunes in it, so that won me over pretty easily! For dinner, I made her recipe simply called "Alissa's Juice", with the apple (rather than pineapple) option. It was DELICIOUS! I didn't realize how much I love ...

It's easy being green

My victory of the day: a new yummy green juice made up of kale, cucumber, ginger, carob, and plantain. The plantain and carob went very well together, giving a nice kick to the monotony that has become my green juices (even though I still love 'em!). Workout of the Day: 1.5 hours ballet class 100 crunches Recipe of the Day : Yummy green juice mentioned above I'm still toying with raw black bean brownies, but the outcome is still not satisfying...
