5 Awesome Weekend Happenings

Image
Just a quick hello to share 5 of the awesome things that have made up my weekend (yes, 3 out of 5 of them are food... what did you expect?): 1) Ottawa Thai Massage 's 3 hour Couple's Workshop  The workshop was run by our amazing and absurdly multi-talented friend, Devin Johnstone . For a really quick idea of what it is: Thai Massage mainly involves deep stretching and massage. It's usually done on the floor or mat, and the masseuse guides the receiver into a variety of yoga-esque/stretching positions and then applies firm and/or rhythmic pressure like a normal massage. While that made sound a little strenuous, it isn't at all. It's really relaxing, and after all, I'm one to love  a nice juicy stretch. We absolutely loved it! It was broken down into partner awareness exercises, a quick partner meditation, and then down to the dirty work. It was absurdly relaxing, and a wonderful way to connect. I may or may not have gotten a little emotional... We'...

Food for the Day 1. Warm lemon water w/ raw honey 2. Berry Smoothie (berries + water) w/ spirulina, maca, & mesquite powders 3. Green Juice (celery, kale, collard greens, cucumber, ginger, kiwi) 4. 1/2 Apple 5. A mandarin (I definitely feel back on track with my body after having just done this for a few days... (because wheat was just the 'easier' c...

Bikram, you'll be the death of me...

... and by "me", I mean little "me" or "i", my ego, my pain body, rather than who I actually am: "Me", the big "I", or my higher consciousness (check out Eckhart Tolle 's works to give you incredible insight into that kind of vocabulary). Today's Bikram class was yet another experience in my personal path to Enlightenment... I get surprised every time it happens, even though it's happened every time I go. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around how much this is doing for me. Today was an experience in letting go, letting go of a portion of my pain body that I still struggle with today: self-image. I woke up this morning feeling wonderful; physically, emotionally, I was just as happy as could be. Within 20 minutes of my Bikram practice, having taken in the heat, starting to release my usual toxins, I began to slip. I was getting progressively more upset, my thoughts were clouded, my attention unfocused, my position...
